HTC VIVE DEEPENS KAOHSIUNG PRESENCE WITH KOSMOSPOT X VIVELAND GRAND OPENING

KosmoSpot x VIVELAND to house largest VR content collection in Taiwan, Strengthening Taiwan’s Start-up and Ecosystem Development

TAIPEI, Oct. 26, 2018 -HTC VIVE is excited to announce the grand opening of KosmoSpot x VIVELAND, a flagship virtual reality (VR) motion-sensing technology exhibition park hosting the largest collection of content in Taiwan. Borne out of a unique collaboration with the Kaohsiung City Government, the 826 square meters park offers over 40 VR titles from global content studios and VR innovators in Taiwan. The arcade will serve a unique combination of VR, and forthcoming technology in augmented-reality (AR) and mixed-reality (MR).

Built in coordination with the Kaohsiung City Government and the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, the new flagship exhibition park will also provide unique options for academic and institutions to experience VR technology, offering private reservations for up to 100 people.

KosmoSpot x VIVELAND is part of the larger project executed through the Institute for Information Industry (III) and is to be located in the Taroko Park Kaohsiung. Leveraging its favourable location, convenient traffic options and HTC’s cultivated business experience in the VR arcade business, the park will become the vanguard in not only promoting immersive technologies, but also in assisting Kaohsiung’s numerous start-ups in the joint ambition of Kaohsiung’s transformation into the singular Asia-Pacific capital of motion-sensing technology industries.

“Thanks to the Ministry of Economic Affairs' support to the city with a NT$1.2 billion investment in promoting motion-sensing technologies, the KosmoSpot x VIVELAND launched today will not only allow people to experience the latest AR/VR content, but serve as creative exhibition stage for industry start-ups, bolstering go-to-market efforts at a early stage.” said Kaohsiung Acting Mayor, Hsu, Li-Ming. “Combined with the city's digital content industry foundation, hardware application experience and numerous advantages, this project will strengthen local players of the motion-sensing industry in expanding their reach from Kaohsiung to wider global markets.”

Raymond Pao, GM of HTC North Asia, also expressed his excitement towards the project: “With VIVELAND being one of the earliest players in the VR arcade industry, we are glad to share our expertise in developing yet another forward base for Kaohsiung’s local start-ups in speeding up demos and go-to-market capabilities. These investments will greatly bolster VR and AR technology ecosystems in Taiwan. KosmoSpot x VIVELAND will not only demonstrate to the public just how powerful VR can be, but also serve as a technology hub for all of Taiwan.

For start-ups or developers wishing to exhibit their content or technology, KosmoSpot x VIVELAND will include a dedicated area for regular hosting and exploring applicable possibilities. With an easily accessible public surrounding, start-ups may directly obtain feedback from a much wider user-base, speeding up product development cycles and further business investment viability.

In order to explore a diverse array of applications and technology, KosmoSpot x VIVELAND will also look to closely integrate technology and applications across 6 key genres: multi-media production, metropolitan entertainment, health improvement, immersive education content, smart production options and oceanic experiences.

At launch, over 40 titles will be available for public use, including our top-recommendations as below:
• Front Defense Heroes E-Sport version
